The vintage art car hipster shirt is the brainchild of serial art car artist or CARtist Bill Large, who now takes part in events around the U.S.
Large designed his first art car entry in 1988 when he worked for the event sponsor, Pennzoil, and transformed a vintage Oldsmobile 88 convertible into art.
As the lead car in the parade that year, Large was himself transformed and said the experience ensured his almost continuous involvement every year since. Always in search for an outfit outlandish enough to match the cars, he had a vision — a Hawaiian-style shirt featuring art cars instead of flowers.
ARTCAR Brand Apparel is the ultimate party shirt.
As comfortable as it is conversationally provocative, our ArtCar Brand camp shirt is the first of its kind. CARtist Bill Large is working on new fabric designs for future products so check back or sign up here for our ArtCar Brand news.
Now you can celebrate art car artists everywhere with ArtCar Brands textiles and retro shirts made of 100% cotton, printed with images of 42 art cars from the 2016 Houston Art Car Parade. Each image sports the name of the artist – because they deserve it! A percentage of every purchase goes to support the continued upcycle of cars into art and the world’s largest art car parade and museum in Houston.
